A return to residential use

The building at Knuutintie 1 has previously served as a day-care centre. Bergans Kiinteistöt Oy’s renovation project creates five homes within the building. Maria Ailio is the principal designer and is responsible for the apartment layouts.

A protected facade and renewed structure

The facade is protected under the local detailed plan. The original windows are being restored and the surviving panelled doors returned to use. The condition of the timber frame became clearer during demolition, leading to extensive structural replacement and revisions to the design.
